Taking a Screenshot
Who to take a screenshot
"A picture is worth a thousand words!"
If you haven't already, you will inevitably be asked to send a screenshot to provide additional information. Here's how to do it and what to do in this ticket system to upload it. Don't worry, this is actually going to be easy...
The screen capture function in Windows works on the premise that you want to capture everything on your screen. That is not always the case. So if you have other windows open with irrelevant or sensitive information, the first task is close or at least minimizing those windows.
Now you can "take a picture". Press and hold the CTRL key. Now locate the PrtScn key. This could very well be a key you've never noticed but it is on every keyboard ever made since 1980 so it's there, keep looking.
Once you press the print screen (PrtScn) key, nothing visual will happen but rest assured, a picture of the screen was captured and stored in your clipboard or in memory, if you will. You can let go of the CTRL key.
Now all you need to do is open your picture editor aka Paint and paste it. Easiest way to do this is to simply type "paint" in the Cortana search field and hit Enter.
Now that you have Paint open, just press and hold CTRL and press the v key. You shold see the picture of your screen now.
At this point you can save the image with a relevant name and attach it to an email or upload it to the ticket system.
To upload it, open your existing ticket or a new one. Scroll down just below the comment text field. You will see the "Attachements" area with up to 5 "slots" indicated as "choose file, no file chosen". Click the first Chose file button and browse to select the image file you saved (in the location you chose to save it) in Paint. Now you should see the file listed. You can do this up to five times for additional images or documents. The system accepts a wide ranges of image and document formats. If you try to upload an unsupported format the system will advise you of its supported formats.
